オルタナティブ・ロックの歌詞は、他のロック音楽のスタイルよりも、薬物使
用、憂うつや、環境保護主義など社会的な関心を描く傾向がある。1991年
「Nirvana」のアルバム『Nevermind』の人気と商業的成功はオルタナティブ・
ロックをメーン・ストリームへと押し上げ、商業的・文化的な生存力を確立し
た。 その結果、オルタナティブ・ロックは90年代のロックを代表する最もポ
ピュラーなスタイルになった。そして、多くのオルタナティブ・バンドが商業
的成功をおさめ、高評価を得るに至った。 2004年には、インディペンデント
・ロックと呼ばれる「Modest Mouse」やポスト・パンク・リバイバルと呼ばれ
る「フランツ・フェルディナンド」などのアーティストが人気を集め、オルタ
ナティブ・ロックはメインストリームから新たに注目を浴びた。

VVSmith band members include Van Vechten Smith (vocals and guitar), Debbie Swanger (vocals and keyboards), Corbin Hill (guitars), Jeff Zakany (vocals and bass guitar) and Marty Brasington (drums). Van Vechten Smith at the age of three already has a guitar. He already have two recording contracts and ha toured in different countries like Germany, Switzerland, USA and others. Debbie Swanger on the other hand has very versatile vocals. Corbin Hill is well trained in blues rock technique while Jeff Zakany already played bass with many other bands. His skill in playing the bass has given him the driving force. And last but not the least is Marty Brasington who is a must see drummer.
